North Shore Environmental Coalition

The North Shore Environmental Coalition (NSEC) fights for environmental protection and climate change solutions. We also connect people with each other and with established environmental groups around the 6th Congressional District of Massachusetts. We empower people to use tools including the democratic process to resist climate denial and support the government infrastructure charged with protecting our environment.

Immigration and sanctuary cities working group

The Action Together North Shore Sanctuary Cities Task Force mobilizes members in support of Sanctuary City, Welcoming City, Trust Act, and other civic policies aimed at minimizing the danger of deportation to their residents. The task force also coordinates support for the Massachusetts Safe Communities Act.

If you aren’t sure if your city or town is considering a Sanctuary City ordinance, or you’d like to start a movement, we have published a guide to help you get started. We also share news and events related to immigrant rights, refugee issues, and racial and religious tolerance.

LEGISLATIVE PARTNERSHIPS

Action Together MA-North Shore has created productive relationships with the offices of all of our Members of Congress; Rep. Seth Moulton, (D-MA6), Senator Elizabeth Warren, (D-MA) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA). We collaborated with Representative Moulton’s office on an organizing meeting at Peabody High School on Dec. 11 that was attended by approximately 600 people and led to the founding of our issue-based task forces. We are actively engaged with our representatives on issues of mutual concern, including the likely repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

We are also working with our State Senators and Representatives on an issue by issue basis, and are actively encouraging people to get involved in their local town councils, town committees and school boards.

North shore for LGBTQ Equality

North Shore for LGBTQ Equality emerged from the MA 6th Congressional District Organizing meeting. We believe in equality for all, and aim to protect the rights of our LGBTQ community through impactful political action.

In recent months, there has been a massive shift in the political climate. Where we first hoped that the 45th President's administration would avoid anti-LGBTQ legislation, we've now seen the withdrawal of federal protections for transgender students and heard rumors of an anti-LGBTQ "Religious Freedom" EO. NS for LGBTQ Equality works to protect our LGBTQ community by partnering with existing organizations that are doing great work for LGBTQ rights. Join us at facebook.com/groups/lgbtqnorthshore.
